The 1715-AENTR is a communication interface module that connects a 1715 Redundant I/O system to a ControlLogix® controller over an EtherNet/IP network. Its defining feature is its Dual-Port Ethernet capability, which supports Device Level Ring (DLR), Linear, and Star topologies.

When used in a redundant pair (two modules installed in a 1715-AENTR adapter base), it provides “fault-tolerant” communication. If one adapter or cable fails, the other takes over instantly without interrupting the I/O data flow.
