The Longshine LCS-883C-TB is a legacy industrial-grade Fast Ethernet Switch (often referred to as a “Bridge” in older documentation) designed to provide reliable networking in environments requiring both twisted-pair copper and BNC (Coaxial) connectivity. Important Usage Notes (Precautions)

  • BNC Termination: The BNC port must be properly terminated. If the LCS-883C-TB is at the end of a coaxial run, a 50-ohm terminator must be used on the T-connector. Without it, the entire BNC segment will fail due to signal reflection.

  • Speed Limitation: Note that the BNC port is strictly 10 Mbps. While the RJ45 ports can handle 100 Mbps, any data passing through the BNC segment will be throttled to 10 Mbps.

  • Power Polarity: When using a replacement power adapter, strictly verify the voltage and polarity (center positive/negative) as indicated on the device label to avoid frying the internal capacitors.

  • Environment: Avoid placing the switch in unventilated areas. Despite its industrial build, excessive heat can lead to “packet dropping” or port hanging.
