Because it uses a narrow, high-speed laser beam, it does not suffer from beam divergence, making it highly effective at measuring through gaps or past obstacles.

Precautions

  • Surface Visibility: The device requires the target surface to be “visible.” It performs best on solid materials and opaque liquids; it is not suitable for transparent liquids or materials that do not reflect light well.
  • Dust & Condensation: While it includes “Last Pulse Detection” for moderate dust, extremely heavy dust environments may require the optional non-condensing heated optics or dust tubes to keep the lens clean and prevent signal degradation.
  • Laser Safety: The device utilizes a Class 1M or Class 3R laser (depending on the specific configuration). Avoid staring directly into the laser beam or viewing it with optical instruments.
  • Installation: Ensure the mounting position is clear of direct material inflow, as dust and falling material can temporarily obscure the laser path during filling cycles.
