The MTL4850 is a “single-brick” solution designed to multiplex up to 32 HART channels. It extracts the digital HART signal from the analog loop and transmits it via an RS485 serial link to a PC or control system.

Important Precautions

• Hazardous Areas: While the device is used with intrinsically safe loops, the module itself must be installed in a Safe Area or a Zone 2/Div 2 environment within a suitable IP54 enclosure.

• Loop Resistance: Ensure the total loop resistance is at least 250Ω for stable HART communication.

• Polarity: The power supply input is reverse-polarity protected, but always verify wiring to prevent broader system issues.

• Firmware: If integrating into a large network (up to 2016 devices), ensure the RS485 address is correctly set via the interface software.
