The NI 9361 is a 32-bit counter module featuring 8 digital input channels. It is highly versatile, supporting both differential (RS-422/RS-485 level) and single-ended (TTL/Industrial 24V) signals. Its primary purpose is to handle high-speed pulse trains from encoders, flow meters, and proximity sensors, allowing for sophisticated position and velocity tracking.

Precautions & Maintenance

• Overvoltage Protection: The module supports up to 30 V DC input protection on DI+ terminals. Exceeding this may damage the internal circuitry.

• External Power (Vsup): When using the Vsup pin to power the internal pull-ups, note that the NI 9361 does not provide overvoltage protection for the external supply connection.

• Mounting: To meet the specified shock and vibration ratings (5 g vibration / 50 g shock), the system must be panel-mounted.

• Wiring: For single-ended modes, always leave the DI- terminal open and connect the signal to DI+ to ensure the programmable threshold functions correctly.
